LAPD Chief Charlie Beck Wins Sandwich After Kings Stanley Cup Win

The Stanley Cup celebration won’t officially be over until LAPD Chief Charlie Beck gets his hands on a classic New York pastrami sandwich.

“Looking forward to @CommissBratton buying lunch at Katz's Deli in New York when #Kings beat #Rangers in #StanleyCupFinal,” Beck tweeted on June 4.

That’s the friendly bet he made with NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton. Unfortunately for Bratton, he’ll have to wait on his Langer’s Deli corned beef.

Beck held off on gloating until the morning after the Kings beat the New York Rangers 3-2 in double overtime to take the hockey title.

“@CommissBratton looking forward to having lunch my friend soon,” Beck posted Saturday morning.

Bratton took it all in stride, and even asked, “do you take your pastrami sandwich with or without mustard?”

“Congrats!” he added.

And for those wondering, Beck takes his sandwich without mustard, slaw inside.

“Just like @LangersDeli,” Beck tweeted.
