A bicyclist was fatally struck by a suspected drunken driver in the Long Beach area on Sunday morning, authorities said.
The woman was struck at about 2 a.m. while attempting to cross Del Amo Boulevard on Pioneer Boulevard in Lakewood, a spokesman for Los Angeles Sheriff's Department said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver's car stopped after striking a telephone pole, the spokesman said.
He suffered injuries and was taken to the Long Beach Memorial Hospital, the spokesman said. He was arrested and booked on a DUI charge.
