Bill Proposes Biennial Vehicle Registration

If a proposed bill were to pass, California drivers may soon be able to register their vehicles at the Department of Motor Vehicles every other year, as opposed to every year.

Currently, drivers in California are required to register their vehicles and pay fees annually per the law.

With Senate bill 460, owners would be able to register their vehicles biennial as well as renew their registration every other year.

The bill was proposed by Senator Jim Beall and, if it is passed, would go into effect after January 1, 2020.
