What to Know

  • 5th annual celebration of American puppeteer Bob Baker.
  • When: Saturday, Feb. 23rd from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Where: Los Angeles State Historic Park.

The Los Angeles State Historic Park will host the 5th annual celebration of Bob Baker in honor of the American puppeteer's 95th birthday.

The theme for this year's carnival are pinwheels. Baker decorated his backyard with hundreds of different color, shape and size pinwheels.

"When Bob passed away in 2014 he didn't want to have a funeral, so instead, we celebrate him as Bob the person and puppeteer," Alex Evans, executive director of Bob Baker Marioette Theater said.

The carnival will bring back the Pop-up Puppet Museum once again this year with educational tours focusing on marionettes with work from professional puppeteers.

Attendees will be able to enjoy from Baker themes games including face painting, caricatures and hair tinseling.

Evans said the carnival is for the community to enjoy activities that are harder to find in the city and for people to learn more about the history of puppetry.
