Stabbing Victim's Body Found in Studio City Park

The body was found at about 2:15 a.m. in South Weddington Park

The body of a woman who appeared to be fatally stabbed was discovered in South Weddington Park early Tuesday in the Studio City-North Hollywood area.

The victim, a woman believed to be in her 30s, was found with multiple stab wounds to her upper torso, said Lt. Alan Hamilton with the LAPD North Hollywood division.

Police are waiting for the coroner to positively identify the body before next of kin are notified, Hamilton said.

The body was found at about 2:15 a.m. near a storage shed. Police believe the woman had been deceased for about two hours before being discovered.

"From my point of view, there were no outward signs of a prolonged struggle," Hamilton said. "We are going forward with the investigation and hope to make an arrest shortly."

The victim likely knew her murderer, Hamilton said, describing the dispute as "between acquaintances.

South Weddington Park is between Lankershim Boulevard and the 101 Freeway, just south of the river.
