The body recovered from the Los Angeles River Saturday in Atwater Village was identified as a Los Angeles woman.
Royalyn Reshaye Starks was 55 years old, coroner's Lt. Nani Cholakians said. An autopsy was pending.
Her body was found in the water, in the vicinity of the Los Angeles-Glendale Water Reclamation Plant, 4600 Colorado Blvd.
Firefighters were dispatched to the location at 9:09 a.m., said Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
No further details were available.
