Body Found in LA River is Missing Long Beach Man

The unidentified remains were found early Monday morning and homicide detectives are investigating.

The body of a missing Long Beach man was discovered Monday morning in the LA River, police said.

The remains of 23-year-old Greg Almodovar were discovered in the water near the Pacific Coast Highway overpass just after 7 a.m., according to Long Beach Police Department.

Almodovar was last seen around 9 p.m. Dec. 3. and his car was located near Willow Avenue and the 710 Freeway the next day.

According to a statement when he went missing, Almodovar had been suffering from depression, but detectives did not think he was likely to harm himself.

His disappearance was believed to be suspicious.

The cause of his death has not been determined, and homicide detectives are investigating.
