Body Found in Oxnard

A body was found in an Oxnard alley on Wednesday morning, police said.

A 911 call about 7:40 a.m. tipped off officers to the body in the 1700 block of South Oxnard Boulevard, next to railroad tracks and a stand of trees, the Oxnard Police Department said.

Crime scene experts from Oxnard police and the Ventura County Sheriff's Department were processing whatever evidence they could find.

Investigators would not go into detail about the body, saying only it was that of a middle-aged person. The body appears to have been dumped there, and the death appears to be suspicious, they said.

Neighbors in the area said the area near the tracks is often frequented by drug addicts.

"It's always been, for many years. It's always been a bad area," said Rosa Gonzales, who lives nearby.

Sgt. Chris Inglehart said Oxnard police plan to reach out to other agencies investigating similarly found bodies.

Last Thursday, Burbank police found a body on train tracks as well. The body was wrapped in plastic and the victim, 30-year-old Nshan Balyan of North Hollywood, had been shot several times.
