Body Found in Shallow Grave Behind “Drug House”

Landlord found body so badly decomposed police couldn't tell its gender

San Bernardino police on Tuesday were digging up a badly decomposed body that they found in a shallow grave behind a home.

The body was found Tuesday morning after the landlord of a rental property in the 200 block of East 11th Street noticed a foul smell coming from the home's back yard.

It was in a shallow grave, covered in several wooden pallets and debris. It was so decomposed police could not tell its gender.

Residents said they weren't surprised by the situation, describing the home as a "drug house" and the block as crime-ridden.

"This neighborhood, a lot of those things happen," one nearby resident said.

"There was people going in and out all day, all night," another neighbor said of the home.

Several neighbors said they heard gunshots from the house last weekend, but no one had called the police.
