Brothers Arrested in Chuck E. Cheese Shooting

Shots narrowly missed children and adults inside the restaurant after bullets from a parking lot gang confrontation pierced the walls.

Two brothers have been arrested in connection with a September shooting at a Pico Rivera Chuck E. Cheese restaurant, sheriff’s officials said Friday.

Jesse Ortiz, 33, and Jimmy Ortiz, 31, both from Pico Rivera, initiated a gang-related shooting outside the restaurant, investigators said. Both have been charged with attempted murder and shooting into an inhabited dwelling.

Jimmy Ortiz remains in custody in lieu of $2 million bail; Jesse Ortiz’s bail was set at $1 million.

The shooting was reported Sept. 28, and deputies found multiple rounds had been shot into the front of the restaurant, narrowly missing children and adults inside.

Investigators believe a gang-related confrontation in the parking lot led to the shooting, and both brothers have ties to a local gang, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Mike Balderama at 562-949-2421.
