Brush Fire in Laguna Beach

A fire burned about 12 acres in Laguna Beach in an area with heavy brush Friday afternoon.

More than 150 firefighters battled the blaze, which began shortly after 3 p.m.

No structures were threatened and no injuries were reported, according to Orange County Fire Authority.

As of 10:30 p.m., some firefighters remained on the scene to manage hot spots, and there are deactivated electrical wire down on Arroyo Drive that can only be accessed on foot.

No evacuations were planned because the fire was moving away from homes.

The likely cause of the fire was a tree that fell on power lines, causing them to collapse and hit a transformer, which then exploded, according to Sgt. Tim Kleiser.
