Louie Sanchez, 29, and Marvin Norwood, 30, were arrested Thursday on suspicion of beating Giant's fan Bryan Stowe, who has been hospitalized since the March 31 confrontation outside Dodger's Stadium. The new arrests have vindicated Giovanni Ramirez, previously held as the primary suspect in the case.

A preliminary hearing for Louie Sanchez and Marvin Norwood, the two men accused in an assault on a San Francisco Giants fan after an opening day game at Dodger Stadium, will probably occur in February.

At a court proceeding Thursday morning, a progress report in the case was set for Jan. 17. It's likely the preliminary hearing will be scheduled at that time.

The two men, shackled together at the wrist during Thursday's appearance, pleaded not guilty Aug. 10. Prosecutors have claimed their case is based on incriminating statements from the two men, who were charged with mayhem, assault by means likely to produce great bodily injury and battery with serious bodily injury, all felonies.

The criminal complaint also alleges that Sanchez was involved in attacks on two other people at the stadium on Opening Day.

The victim, Giants fan Bryan Stow, was released from a Bay area hospital in October. He was transported to a rehabilitation facility, and doctors have said there have been encouraging signs for Stow's recovery.

Last month, Stow's family posted a picture on their blog of Bryan Stow with family and friends during Thanksgiving.
