SWAT members entered a Florence market Wednesday morning after a report of a burglar who barricaded himself inside the building for about six hours.

Witnesses reported seeing the man breaking into vehicles outside the store before he entered the market.

At about 5:30 a.m, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department deputies and several armored tactical vehicles responded to the Ranch Markets store parking lot in the 8600 block of Hooper Avenue.

A robot was deployed inside the market before officers entered.

Details regarding the subject -- identified only as an adult male -- were not immediately available. He was taken into custody at mid-day, according to authorities.

The subject was escorted out of the market on a medical gurney with a bandage on his head. A sheriff's spokeperson said he believed the man was hurt after falling through a skylight, authorities said.

The suspect was thought to have been hurt by deputies, but officials later clarified the man was hurt when he fell through the ceiling.

Nearby streets were closed for the police activity.

No other injuries have been reported.
