Police Seek Burglars Posing as Maintenance Workers

Police on Tuesday were asking for the public's help to find two men who were posing as maintenance workers in order to burglarize homes in North Hollywood.

The alleged burglaries happened Sept. 13 and 14, with the suspects targeting "elderly" residents by faking inspections in order to enter their homes, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The first burglary happened on the 6100 block of Bonner Street when one of the suspects, posing as an electrician and wearing an identification card, "lured" the victim into her backyard by telling her that he was inspecting electrical lines. With the door unlocked and the victim distracted, the second man entered the woman's home and proceeded to steal items.

The second burglary, on the 5600 block of Corteen Place, followed a similar pattern. The first suspect lured the victim into his kitchen, while the second suspect again entered the unlocked home to steal property.

The first suspect is described as a 50-year-old man standing 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing between 160 to 180 pounds. The second suspect is a man between 20 and 25 years old, standing 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing roughly 160 pounds.

The pair is believed to be driving a white "newer model" Nissan Sentra 4-door.
