Burglary Suspect Taken to Hospital After Entering Home Tented for Fumigation

The would-be burglar had become sick from inhaling the toxic chemicals.

A house in Sylmar that had been tented for fumigation was hit by a burglar, who was discovered by police, treated by paramedics and taken to a hospital Sunday.

Police were first on the scene, at about 8 a.m. Sunday, according to Officer Liliana Preciado of the LAPD's Media Relations Section.

Officers extracted the suspect from the home at 15564 Lucky Place, said Erik Scott of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Firefighters were called in at 8:25 a.m. and searched the home for any accomplices, but found no additional patients, Scott said.

Paramedics transported the man to an area hospital for exposure to toxic chemicals, as firefighters searched and found no one else inside the home.
