Police shut down several lanes in Hawthorne after a vehicle crashed into a building and killed the driver, police said.
The accident was reported just before midnight on Friday in the 11500 block of Hawthorne Boulevard near Imperial Highway. The driver crashed into a building and sustained injuries, according to the Hawthorne Police Department.
The driver was transported to a hospital where he died of his injuries. It was unknown what caused the car crash.
California Highway Patrol assisted with the closure of southbound lanes on Hawthorne Boulevard as police investigated the crash.
The lanes would remain closed for about three hours, according to the Hawthorne Police Department.
