Cafecito: Zoe Saldana on New Movie, Mexican Culture

The 36-year-old received the Vision Award for her positive leadership at the Hispanic Heritage Foundation Awards in D.C. last month

Proud Latina actress Zoe Saldana sat down with Feliciano Garcia in Washington D.C. recently, opening up about her role as Maria in the animated adventure “The Book of Life,” her admiration for Mexican culture and why she believes it’s important for women to focus on intelligence rather than looks.

Saldana, 36, had starring roles in “Avatar” and “Guardians of the Galaxy” and is an expectant mother of twins.

She talked with Cafecito at the Hispanic Heritage Foundation Awards in September, where she received the Vision Award for her positive leadership in and beyond Hollywood.

NBC News is proud to present a new program, entitled Cafecito, to provide a platform for Latinos to voice their stories. Hosted by Feliciano Garcia, this award-winning video series takes an inside look at prominent Latinos who are shaping their communities – including artists, entertainers and leaders. Shot in locations around the country like Los Angeles, Washington D.C. and New York, the award-winning host and producer engages his guests with lively, candid conversation while they sip on a cafecito.
