Residents near a water main break that caused a street to buckle overnight and flooded an intersection in the Hollywood Hills will likely be without water into Monday afternoon.
The water main break involving an 8-inch pipe in the 2200 block of North Cahuenga Boulevard was reported at about 3 a.m. No damage to homes was reported.
Odin Street was closed for repairs near Cahuenga Boulevard. The location is just east of the 101 Freeway.
The water supply was shut off early Monday, allowing repairs to begin.
"Just tried to brush my teeth, couldn't do it," said resident Chris D-Elia. "Had to use my Brita."
Service is expected to be restored early Monday afternoon, possibly by 1 p.m.
The pipe, installed in 1926 was located about 3 feet below the street surface. By daybreak, neighbors and utility crews could see a buckled street and debris.

"It looks a lot worse than what it really is," said Kirk Broyard, of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power. "You see mud and water flowing down the street, and it always looks like it's some catastrophic event. It's a typical main break. It all depends on the soil where you are."
