Firefighters blocked off the helicopter's charred remains.
Two people were pronounced dead at the scene after a military helicopter crashed on the Southeast corner of Camp Pendleton Monday afternoon.
A brush fire broke out as a result of the deadly crash at about 1 p.m., a military spokesperson said.
The fire is burning 120 acres, but Camp Pendleton firefighters report it is 80 percent contained. The fire is located in the southeast portion of the base near its border. No structures have been damaged.
Camp Pendleton's fire department and emergency crews were dispatched to the scene. Multiple crews are assisting at the site, including CAL Fire.
Aerial views of the site crash showed disintegrated remains of the helicopter. The chopper belonged to the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing based at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar.
There will be an investigation to determine the cause of the crash, according to Marine officials.
