Candlelight Vigil Held for Kidnapping Suspect Shot by Police

Tears Flowed and Anger Grew in Montebello as Hundreds Gathered Tuesday Night Near Spot Where a Kidnapping Suspect was Shot and Killed by Police the Day Before. Police Say the Shooting was Justified, but Many Family and Friends of the Victim Disagree

Tony Jimenez revved his brother Jorge's motorcycle Tuesday night, near where Montebello Police shot and killed the 31 year old man on Monday after a thirty minute pursuit.

"He was a good person, a good man. He didn't have to go this way, you know? Cops went overboard. That's all I can say," according to Tony Jimenez, Jorge's brother.

ELA motorcycle club members wept during the tribute to Jorge Jimenez.

Police say Jimenez committed "suicide by cop" when he got out of his car with a gun, but loved ones despair the death of the possibly intoxicated kidnap suspect.

"I didn't think that they should have shot him thirty-(bleep) times! I mean, that was ridiculous," according to Alexis Gonzales, Jorge's friend.

"He was really good a mechanic. He loved his daughter, did everything for her. He was a very good provider for her. I'm gonna miss him," states David Acosta, Jorge's cousin.

Investigators say during the pursuit, Jimenez called family and threatened to shoot police if they tried to stop his car with spike strips.
