Car Crashes Into Yogurt Shop, Catches Fire

A vehicle crashed into a yogurt shop in Commerce early Tuesday morning and erupted into flames, causing an estimated $100,000 in damage.

The crash was reported around 1:30 a.m. in the intersection of East Whittier Boulevard and Belden Avenue, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

The Toyota Corolla caught on fire and the blaze extended into the yogurt shop, firefighters said. Firefighters put out the fire around 2 a.m., fire officials said.

The driver left the scene of the crash, officials said.

Investigators said based on the tire marks in the parking lot, the driver was not speeding. Alcohol was not found in the car.

It was unknown if there were any injuries.
