Metro Blue Line commuters will be shuttled via buses in the Compton and Willowbrook areas as crews continue to repair the tracks and rail systems following Monday's train-car collision.
The train derailed Monday morning after it collided with a car, injuring one person in Compton, officials said.
The tracks will likely be shut down at least through Tuesday's morning commute. The train, a track switch box and the support system for the overhead wires that deliver electricity to trains were damaged.
The crash was reported around 7:30 a.m. at Willowbrook Avenue and East 119th Street in the South LA area, according to Los Angeles County Fire Department. Aerial video showed a wrecked sedan near the tracks of a derailed Metro Blue Line train.
Preliminary reports indicate the driver of the sedan drove around the crossing gates into the path of an oncoming train, according to Metro.
One person in the vehicle was transported to a hospital in unknown condition, LA County Fire officials said.
