Driver Arrested on Suspicion of DUI After Crashing Into AutoZone

His passenger described a bizarre series of events that led up to the auto parts store crash

A driver really got into the zone, AutoZone, Wednesday morning when he crashed a Honda sedan through the auto parts store in Covina.

The crash occurred at around 4:20 a.m. in the 21000 block of Arrow Highway, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. The blue Honda sedan ended up about 10 feet inside the store after crashing through a glass door.

A flatbed tow truck removed the car early Wednesday.

No injuries were reported. The driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

A man who identified as a passenger in the car said his friend had just picked him up from a kung fu class and appeared to be acting "pretty crazy."

"Before this happened, he said he was sorry for what was going to happen and then he punched me," said Robert Eliis, still wearing his class uniform. "And then, he spun out of control.

"The only thing on my mind was, 'Wow, is this seriously happening right now?'"
