Caregiver Charged With Murder and Elder Abuse in Mother's Death

Linda Raye was the paid in-home caregiver for her mother, who died as a result of severely infected open wounds.

A 58-year-old woman has been charged with murder and elder abuse in the 2012 death of her 85-year-old mother.

Riverside Police arrested Linda Raye Thursday after an extensive investigation into her mother’s death. Raye was the paid in-home caregiver for her mother, who died as a result of severely infected open wounds.

According to police, Raye did not properly care for the victim despite having been trained to care for wounds. Additionally, Raye did not seek any assistance for her after the wounds became infected.

The victim was taken to Riverside Community Hospital on Nov. 28, 2012 because she was unresponsive. Police began their elder abuse investigation on Dec. 4, 2012.

Raye’s bail is set at $1 million.
