Four Vehicles Destroyed in Sherman Oaks Carport Fire

Four cars were destroyed and an apartment damaged in a carport fire in Sherman Oaks early Wednesday.

Firefighters responded to the blaze at the 14300 block of Addison Street in Sherman Oaks at around 2:30 a.m, Los Angeles Fire Department said.

They worked to avoid the flames spreading to the second floor apartments above, though one unit immediately above the blaze sustained damage and has been deemed uninhabitable.

Around 30 residents had to evacuate their homes due to the fire, however most have been able to return to their homes.

Four other vehicles sustained heat damage in the blaze, but no one was injured.

It took 50 firefighters in total to extinguish the fire.

Arson investigators were on scene with a dog unit as they try to identify the cause of the fire. Firefighters believe the fire started inside one of the vehicles, and that it was not a suspicious fire.

LAFD do not believe it is linked to a carport fire that occurred in Woodland Hills last week.
