Magnitude-3.4 Earthquake Hits Off Catalina

An earthquake Tuesday afternoon hit about 4:30 p.m. 6 miles east of Avalon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

A magnitude-3.4 earthquake struck Tuesday afternoon just off Santa Catalina Island.

The epicenter was 6 miles east of Avalon, 26 miles southwest of Newport Beach and 32 miles south of Long Beach, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

No damage has been reported in Avalon.
