Child Rescued After Near-Drowning

Little girl hospitalized as a precaution after she was pulled from a community pool near Orange

A 3-year-old girl was hospitalized Saturday after a near-drowning in Orange County.

A lifeguard reportedly pulled the girl from the water of a community pool at Irvine Ranch Outdoor Education Center in Orange just before 6 p.m.

The little girl was playing on the steps of the pool and fell in when her parents turned away for a few moments, according to the Orange County Fire Authority.

She was believed to be in the water for between 30 and 60 seconds.

When paramedics arrived, the toddler was conscious. She was taken to nearby Children’s Hospital of Orange County as a precaution, officials said.
