Clayton Kershaw and Cody Bellinger Lead Dodgers Over Padres, 10-2

The three-time Cy Young Award winner struck out nine Padres, Cody Bellinger hit a grand slam, and the Los Angeles Dodgers won their second straight game in San Diego, 10-2, on Saturday night at Petco Park.

Don't make Clayton Kershaw angry.

The three-time Cy Young Award winner struck out nine Padres, Cody Bellinger hit a grand slam, and the Los Angeles Dodgers won their second straight game in San Diego, 10-2, on Saturday night at Petco Park.

Kershaw threw seven shutout innings before allowing a solo shot to Ryan Schimpf in the bottom of the eighth.

Other than the one mistake to Schimpf, Kershaw was lights out, allowing just one run on five hits with four walks and nine strikeouts. Kershaw's four free passes issued were the most since May 10, 2015 against Colorado at Coors Field.

Another Clayton, Padres' starting pitcher, Clayton Richard, did not fair as well as the Dodgers avenged a loss to Richard in the second game of the season at Dodger Stadium.

Richard surrendered five runs on seven hits with a career-high six walks and five strikeouts in just five short innings for San Diego.

Bellinger bookended the scoring for the Boys in Blue with an RBI single in the fourth, and a grand slam in the top of the ninth.

It was the first grand slam of Bellinger's career and his fifth home run in his first 11 games as a big leaguer, a Dodgers franchise record.

The Dodgers gave Kershaw the lead with three runs in the fourth inning, and tacked on two more when Kiké Hernandez hit a two-run double with the bases loaded in the top of the fifth.

Hernandez drilled a line drive down the left-field line that could have cleared the bases, but Franklin Gutierrez stopped at third base and had to exit the game with a hamstring injury.

Kershaw cruised until he ran into some trouble in the bottom of the eighth. After he leadoff home run to Schimpf, he nearly got himself ejected after he argued a ball call by home plate umpire, Toby Basner, on a pitch that looked like it should have been strike three.

Kenley Jansen came into the game with the bases loaded in the bottom of the eight looking for a four-out save. Bellinger's slam gave the Dodgers a nine-run lead, but if Jansen could finish off the bottom of the ninth, he still would have recorded the save.

However, the all-time saves leader in franchise history, struggled in the ninth, and was relieved by Chris Hatcher with two outs in the bottom of the ninth, negating the save opportunity for Jansen.
