Another season, another major injury.
Los Angeles Clippers' forward Blake Griffin is expected to miss between three and six weeks after he undergoes minor knee surgery after a doctor's visit on Monday.
The team has yet to announce the news, but multiple outlets are reporting that Griffin will undergo a procedure to "clean up" his right knee and isn't expected to return to the Clippers lineup until the end of January.
Griffin is no stranger to injuries. The former 2011 NBA Rookie of the Year missed more than half of the 2015-2016 season after he broke his hand punching a team equipment manager outside of a restaurant in Toronto.
After his return, Griffin suffered another injury, this time to his quadriceps that took him out of the final three games of the first round of the NBA Playoffs.
Griffin sat out a game at Staples Center last week with knee pain, but accompanied the Clippers on their recent three-game road trip which concluded Sunday in Washingtoin D.C.
Griffin scored 26 points and played 38 minutes in the game, but it's likely he's been playing through the pain, and the team sought it best to undergo the procedure now, before it became a lingering or more severe issue in the latter half of the season.
The Clippers currently stand in fourth place in the NBA's Western Conference, but could slide even further in the standings without Griffin. The five-time All-Star is currently leading the team in scoring at 21.9 points, second in rebounds with 8.9 and second in assists at 4.6 per game.
