Clippers Pound Portland 111-80 For Best Record in NBA

Six different players scored in double figures as the Los Angeles Clippers blew out the Portland Trailblazers, 111-80, on Wednesday night at Staples Center.

Blake Griffin led the Clippers with 22 points, 13 rebounds and five assists as Los Angeles now has the best record in the NBA at 7-1 on the season.

Chris Paul scored 19 and DeAndre Jordan had 16 points, 9 rebounds and three blocks as none of the starters for the Clippers played in the fourth quarter.

LA led from wire-to-wire and by as many as 48 points in the third quarter before clearing out their bench for the final frame.

The Clippers were rolling from the opening tip and jumped out to a 32-point lead 50-18 before the team's went into the locker rooms at 61-32. 

LA continued to run up the score in the second half and doubled-up the Blazers, 80-40 midway through the third quarter. 

Only a last minute three by Shabazz Napier gave Portland a player in double figures (11) as Damian Lillard, who is second in the NBA in scoring (32.8) was held to just eight points. His partner in crime, C.J McCollum also scored only eight points.

The 31-point victory was the largest in franchise history over the Portland Trailblazers and they have now won a team-record three straight games by 20+ points.

The Clippers only loss this season came at the hands of the Oklahoma City Thunder in a low-scoring defensive affair. The Clippers will get a chance to avenge that loss on Friday when they travel to OKC to face Russell Westbrook and the Thunder.
