Blake Griffin #32 of the Los Angeles Clippers shoots against Marc Gasol #33 and Zach Randolph #50 of the Memphis Grizzlies in Game Seven of the Western Conference Quarterfinals. The Clippers will open preseason play in Las Vegas.
The Los Angeles Clippers will open up preseason play Oct. 6 in Sin City with a game against the Denver Nuggets at the Mandalay Bay Events Center.
This marks the first time that a preseason or regular season game has been played on the Las Vegas Strip.
"We can’t wait to get back on the court next season and build on the success of our 2012 playoff run," Clippers' President Andy Roeser said in a statement. "This preseason game in Las Vegas will be the first step in what we hope will be a very special season."
Las Vegas is not foreign to basketball. The city held the 2007 NBA All-Star Game and has played host to the NBA Summer League for rookies and developing players since 2004. These games have been held at the Thomas and Mack Center and the Cox Pavillion, away from The Strip.
Both the Clippers and the Nuggets were playoff teams this past season and have high expectations going into the 2012-13 campaign.
Tickets for the game go on sale Saturday at 10 a.m.
