Authorities Search Colorado Landfill for Remains of Missing San Clemente Woman

Authorities in Colorado were searching a landfill Monday where they think an Orange County woman's remains are located after she was reported missing this summer, Colorado affiliate KUSA reported.

Charlene Voight, 36, disappeared in July after moving from San Clemente to Littleton, Colorado.

Littleton police and volunteers started sifting through pounds of garbage in a landfill located in Commerce City, just north of Denver. Her disappearance was considered suspicious after authorities found her abandoned car in a dirt lot.

Voight's family was thankful police were investigating but told NBC4 they were not optimistic.

"We think our daughter is dead," Charles Voight, her father, told NBC4 in a phone interview Monday.

Charlene Voight and her boyfriend, Jeffrey Beier, had a tumultuous relationship, and she had asked for a restraining order against him in 2012 after court records say he physically abused her. Beier was never named a suspect in her disappearance.
