NBC4 Family Assembles Care Packages for US Troops on Comcast Cares Day

Anchors, reporters and staff from NBC4 Southern California assembled more than 7,000 military care packages in Van Nuys on Saturday as part of the 14th annual Comcast Cares Day.

More than 500 volunteers, including family and friends, assembled and cased support packages at the California National Guard Armory for troops overseas. The packages included letters, cards, books, candy, toiletries and more.

"At NBC4, our whole mission is about being '4You,' the community, so this is a chance for us to give back on a local level," said NBC4 President and General Manager Steve Carlston.

The packages were set to be shipped Monday.

On April 18, NBC4 staff also volunteered at Valley View Elementary in Los Angeles, where they painted, landscaped and decorated the school.
