Flights Resume at LAX After Computer Glitch, But Expect Delays

Seven flights were canceled and 145 others were delayed following a computer glitch that affected Los Angeles International Airport on Thursday morning, airport officials said.

A computer software issue in San Diego prompted Federal Aviation Administration officials to order an LAX ground stop at 8 a.m., which halted outbound flights and inbound flights west of Denver.

Departing flights resumed after 30 minutes, and the stop was lifted about an hour later. But airport officials warned delays would continue "until airlines catch up with their schedules."

Before noon, the airport said four outbound flights were canceled and 83 were delayed, and three inbound flights were canceled and 62 were delayed.

Passengers were advised to check with their airlines for the status of their flights.

Drivers should expect delays of up to 45 minutes, airport police said.

The delays come before the busy Memorial Day weekend travel period.
