Connector From S.R. 22 to 405 Freeway to be Closed at Night for Construction

Continuing work will shut connectors, onramps and freeway stretches throughout the county, CNS reports.

A major freeway connection between Long Beach and Orange County is scheduled to shut down for two weeks starting tonight, and another week of overnight freeway closures will occur in the San Gabriel Valley next week, Caltrans officials said.

In Long Beach, eastbound Route 22 is to be closed at night where it merges onto the southbound San Diego (405) Freeway near Seal Beach Boulevard. That closure will be in effect at 11 p.m. tonight and will last for for two weeks, according to the latest plans.

That closure will mean drivers heading east on Seventh Street, which becomes Route 22, will have to detour via Studebaker Road and other surface streets. The transition road from Seventh Street to the northbound San Gabriel (605) Freeway will remain open.

East of Los Angeles, nearly all of the San Bernardino (10) Freeway will be closed as far as Baldwin Park from about midnight to about 5 a.m. all next week, as several widening and repaving operations are underway. Partial lane closures will begin at about 9 p.m. each night, as contractors prepare for the full freeway closures after midnight.

The full closures will stretch from near the Long Beach (710) Freeway east about 13 miles to the Puente Avenue interchange in Baldwin Park.

In the San Fernando Valley, Caltrans plans to keep at least one lane in each direction open overnigthts on the Golden State (5) Freeway, where a massive widening project is underway between the Reagan (118) and Hollywood (170) freeways. But the transition road from the northbound 170 Freeway to the northbound 5 Freeway will be closed starting at 11 p.m. each night, to reopen at 5 a.m.

In Sylmar, the transition road from the westbound Foothill (210) Freeway to the northbound 5 is to be closed starting at 9 p.m. nightly next week.
