A badly decomposed body was found Monday afternoon behind an under-construction strip mall in Santa Clarita, and detectives were trying to determine if the remains were those of a missing 18-year-old Newhall woman.

The discovery of the body near the southbound Golden State (5) Freeway at the ramp to Henry Mayo Drive was reported at 1:11 p.m., said Deputy Lillian Peck.

A law enforcement official said ``it is possible'' the body may be Brigett Kennemore, who was reported missing Oct. 26.

Peck said identification had not been made yet.

Kennemore was last seen at 4:20 p.m. Oct. 26 walking eastbound on Hasley Canyon Road, according to deputies at the Santa Clarita Valley sheriff's station.

The missing woman, who suffers from a developmental disability, had just gotten off a Santa Clarita Transit bus just east of Cambridge Avenue, deputies said.  She lives on The Old Road in Newhall.
