Two Los Angeles Police Department officers were in serious condition Monday morning after a crash involving their unmarked patrol vehicle and a sport utility vehicle in the Atwater Village area north of downtown Los Angeles.

Four officers were in the vehicle at the time of the crash. Two of those officers were taken to the hospital but were later released.

Three people in the SUV also were hospitalized.
