Crash Sends Gushing Water From Sheared Hydrant into Streets

It was unclear what caused the crash that left the light blue Mini on a curb in front of the gushing hydrant.

A gushing fountain of water was coming from a sheared hydrant Tuesday after a Mini Cooper crashed into it in Whittier.

The crash happened shortly after 6:30 a.m. at the intersection of Virgina Avenue and Carmenita Road, in front of a residential home.

It was unclear what caused the crash that left the light blue Mini on a curb in front of the hydrant. 

Crews from the Los Angeles County Fire Department were working to turn off the water.

It was unclear if anyone was injured in the crash.
