Thousands of people gathered outside the The Wiltern in Los Angeles Friday afternoon in an attempt to watch an advertised $1 concert by artist J. Cole.

The Roc Nation rapper took to social media to announce a “Dollar & A Dream Tour” performance Friday morning. An hour after his announcement, he tweeted “LA show is at capacity, Sold out.”

Some fans took to social media to express their eagerness and frustrations with the impromptu performance.

“I was going to go to the Wiltern to try getting a wristband to J.Coles concert but I’m not even bothering anymore with that huge line,” one Twitter user posted.

Rumors swirled around the announcement, some people claimed a tweet was sent out the night before and later deleted.

One fan tweeted, “smh people were camping out at the wiltern all night without being 100% sure j.cole would b there….”

The presence of officers from the Los Angeles Police Department was visible as the crowd continued to swell Friday afternoon.
