Arrest Made in Culver City Double Homicide: Police

A 31-year-old man described as a transient was arrested on suspicion of a double homicide in Culver City, police announced Thursday afternoon.

Zackariah Timothy Lehnen was arrested at 1:30 a.m. Thursday in West Hollywood, police said.

Earlier Thursday, authorities identified the 27-year-old female victim in the case. Erica Escobar's body was discovered Tuesday in a home near the intersection of Huron Avenue and Washington Boulevard. A second victim, 89-year-old Lucien Bergez, was also found dead in the residence.

Detectives are investigating the incident as a double homicide, police said Thursday.

Lehnen had been seen together with both Escobar and Bergez at a 7-11, according to Culver City Police Chief Dan Pedersen. He declined to elaborate further on the nature of their relationship.

Neighbors said the area is usually safe and the discovery is shocking.

"It's a safe community," said one resident. "Nothing really happens around here to speak of."
