A man has been arrested in connection with the murder of his estranged wife in Walnut Park Sunday night, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s officials.

The fatal shooting happened on the 2800 block of Olive street at 8:00 p.m.

“A husband and wife, they’re estranged, they had a custody arrangement,” said L.A. County Sheriff’s Lt. Mike Rosson. “The wife came to pick up the kids, some type of altercation ensued, and during the altercation shots rang out,” said Lt. Rosson.

The 33-year-old woman was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead, said authorities.

The suspect, 34-year-old Julio Ramon Solano, returned to the shooting scene and was arrested  Monday at 3:00 a.m., said deputies at  the Sheriff’s Headquarters Bureau.

The children, an 11-year-old boy and a six-year-old girl were not hurt, and are now in the custody of the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services.
