Cyclist Might Have Been Victim of Road Rage Dispute

A pickup struck the cyclist near Figueroa and 8th Street

A bicyclist killed Tuesday night in downtown LA might have been the caught up in a road rage dispute between two drivers.

Authorities said the 62-year-old cyclist was struck by a pickup on 8th Street. The driver of the pickup and the female driver of a compact car were involved in a dispute before the crash, according to investigators.

Officer Karen Rayner said the two drivers had been traveling north on Figueroa Street. The cyclist, whose named was not released, was struck at about 7:30 p.m. when the vehicles turned left at 8th Street.

The driver of the pickup was allegedly honking and screaming at the other driver. Police said the pickup struck the cyclist as the driver attempted to pass the other vehicle.
