The girl was hospitalized with major injuries following the crash in Riverside County

A girl was hospitalized with major injuries Saturday when the horse she was riding at a birthday celebration was struck and killed by a DUI suspect in the Riverside County community of Mead Valley.

The crash in the Inland Empire on the 21000 block of Markham Street was reported at 8:16 p.m. in front of a large group of people attending the party, the California Highway Patrol.
