Boulder Blocks PCH in Dana Point

The landslide was reported early Friday morning, forcing a closure on the coastal road

Both sides of Pacific Coast Highway in Dana Point were closed Friday morning after a rock slide that sent a large boulder and other debris onto the highway.

The slide, reported at 4 a.m., occurred near the intersection with Beach Road (map). Work crews with a front-end loader removed the dirt and rocks to reopen the road late Friday morning.

The boulder was estimated at about 10-by-20 feet. At least two drivers witnessed the rock slide and reported it to authorities. No injuries were reported.
