Day Tripper Stumbles Into Illegal Weed Patch
Los Angeles County Park Police released this evidence photograph Thursday showing confiscated marijuana plants that were being grown at Schabarum Regional Park. The weapon was described as a pellet gun.

A day hiker stumbled across a pot farm tucked away in busy Schabarum Regional Park in Rowland Heights Thursday afternoon.
The stroller kept his wits about him and backed out of the farm quietly after noticing three men guarding the plot.
The guards fled as soon as police returned with the hiker.
Officers recovered three rifles and found as many as 500 plants growing.
It's always a concern when illegal pot farms are located near urban populations since growers sometimes take aggressive action to protect their crop.
Schabarum Regional Park is located at 17250 E. Colima Road in Rowland Heights. The Los Angeles County Web site describes the park as 640 Acres of wilderness park comprised of open space and natural areas that contain picturesque canyons and rolling hills for hiking, biking and horseback riding.
The park contains coastal sage scrub vegetation, which provides a variety of plants and wildlife to observe. There is also an eighteen-station fitness trail. Other park features include: an equestrian center, picnic areas, soccer fields, and playgrounds.
