Deputy Shoots, Wounds Suspect in Castaic

    A deputy-involved shooting occurred in Castaic on Sunday, Oct. 6, 2013, authorities said.

    A sheriff's deputy shot and wounded a suspect in Castaic on Sunday afternoon, according to a Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department statement.

    Deputies were investigating the crime scene in the 28600 block of Cloverleaf Place (map). The suspect was taken to a local hospital for treatment and his condition was not known, the statement said.

    Sheriff's officials declined to comment further, saying the investigation was still active. Shootings involving police officers are typically investigated by homicide detectives and multiple agencies, regardless of whether the suspect dies.

    Authorities would not comment on the events that led up to the shooting.
