One Hospitalized, No Deputies Injured in Long Beach Shooting

The shooting was reported near Del Amo Boulevard and Long Beach Boulevard

Authorities have blocked off streets in Long Beach Tuesday after a report of a shooting that involved a Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputy.

No injuries involving deputies were reported as officers and deputies continued the investigation in a neighborhood northwest of Del Amo Boulevard and Long Beach Boulevard (map). Traffic is being routed away from an intersection in the 200 block of Sunset Street.

One male subject was hospitalized. Details regarding the individual's condition and what led to the confrontation were not immediately available.

The sheriff's department responded to the area at about 10 a.m. The shooting involved two deputies, according to the sheriff's department.

Three schools in the area -- James Adams and Dooley elementary schools, and Perry Lindsey Middle School -- were not locked down during the investigation.

Aerial video showed patrol vehicles at the site with yellow police tape blocking a street.

Shootings involving Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies that result in the wounding of a subject are investigated by several agencies, including the LA County District Attorney's office, Sheriff's Homicide Bureau and Internal Affairs Bureau.
