The incident happened Oct. 15 at 9:15 p.m. at a Bank of America in the 4900 block of Melrose Avenue, police said.
The man simulated a handgun, threatened to shoot the victim if he didn't give up his cash and ran away, according to a news release from the Los Angeles Police Department.
The robber is described as black, 35 years old, about 5-foot-10 inches tall and 170 to 180 pounds.
He was last seen wearing a purple Lakers hat and purple Vikings football jersey. He reportedly drove a newer model, red four-door Toyota Yaris, according to the statement.
