Disabled Boy Found Unconscious on School Bus, Dies

No foul play or criminal activity suspected: Police

A disabled 3-year-old boy found unconscious on a Capistrano Unified School District bus in Aliso Viejo, and who later died at a hospital was identified Sunday.

Kevin Cisler was found slumped over in his wheelchair Friday afternoon by the mother of another developmentally disabled child, according to the coroner's office and sheriff's homicide Inspector Dan Salcedo.

“The mother saw that the boy was unconscious and got the driver, who then called 911, which prompted a response to the scene by sheriff's paramedics units,” Salcedo said.

The bus driver and the woman tried to revive the boy, but he was declared dead at Saddleback Memorial Medical Center in Laguna Hills.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday, but Salcedo said no foul play or criminal activity was suspected.

Kevin attended a school in Dana Point for children with special needs. His death was unexpected, Salcedo said.

“We'll have a better idea of what happened after the autopsy, but we may still need to wait for toxicological test results if the autopsy can't provide a conclusive cause of death,” he said.
