The suit was closed for an undisclosed sum, according to a representative for Lambda Legal, a law firm that represents gay and lesbian clients in discrimination matters, which said in a statement that the firm said came jointly from the woman and the doctors.

A Riverside doctor accused of sexually assaulting a patient must have a chaperone when he consults female patients, according to a judge's order.

The Press-Enterprise, citing Riverside County Superior Court records, reported that Dr. Peter Conrad Paul was charged with sexual penetration with a foreign object and sexual exploitation of a client. Paul is free on $50,000 bond and holds a valid medical license.

The female observer was ordered last week during a court proceeding.

The Press-Enterprise reported that a check of records showed no previous actions against Paul by the state Medical Board. The complaint against Paul was filed in January 2008, and he was charge in June, the newspaper reported.
